motors putting out well over 200hp. This makes the crazy steep hill climbs at Rush Off Road Park in Kentucky a little more manageable. A Volkswagon Bus transaxle with cutting brakes to put the power to the dig tires on the back of the machines. The front steer tires are just some tractor skinnies. The cutting brakes can lock up each rear wheel individually. This helps the drivers control their trajectory when on a hill climb. Sometimes they when the front end stand up in the air drivers can hold one break and spin a quick 180 and back down the hill they go. We saw many make saves using this method while we were at the park.

At the end of the video you will see one of rail buggy hill killers get out of control at the top of a nasty climb. He takes a bad roll down a cliff and onto it’s side. The pilot of this machine quickly throws his arms up in the air.  This lets the crowd know that he is ok. He was one of the only vehicles to attempt this climb for the day. The full tube chassis of these machines keep them nice and light. They also protect the driver in case of a rollover or crash. The hill won today, but these guys will be back for some more hill killing very soon.
